Unraveling Time

Ellensburg, WA

10-15-22

I flew from Hawaii to Seattle, met up with my Great Aunt Evelyn, and drove to Ellensburg where I rented an AirBB.  My mom flew from Vegas and my cousins drove from Seattle.  My sister drove from Spokane.  Multiple aunts and uncles from the area all converged to share pictures, stories, and some laughs.

Cousin Katie and I conspired and designed and ordered long sleeve T-shirts with a super cool logo on them.  We surprised everybody with a shirt.

We ordered lasagna and Aunt Evelyn made monkey bread cinnamon rolls.  How I went my whole life not knowing this recipe I don't know.  It's been made several times since within my family.

It was a mini-family reuntion, and it wasn't even planned that way.  You should have been there.  We had stacks of photos, some of us scanning and sorting and some of us using a iphone app to capture photos. We had a computer projecting to the TV with all of our aunts and uncles adding input on who it was, where and when it was taken.

Uncle Jerry brought several photo books, with hundreds of photos. He will have to have his own entire page on this site. Many of his pictures are glued in the albums, so it was hard to capture them and name them.  I'll figure out a way to share the entire album.

Cousin, we did good.

Forever known as Aunt Evelyn's Monkey Bread

It's the little things, and this is an example of one.  In the kitchen with your great aunt making the most simple recipe, well that's just cool.  That's the stuff moment's are made of.

Since then my mother and my daughters have made it several times.  Once I was on a facetime call so my girls and I could all make it together, 3,000 miles apart

Those things can't be forgotten.

My time traveling weekend with Aunt Evelyn started out at her place on the west side, stopped in the middle of the state and ended at the very east side in Spokane.

She was so patient!  I always said, "wait, who is this again?"
